Corey Seager is entering the last year of his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but said Thursday that his focus in 2021 and winning another World Series.

"The focus is right now," Seager said. "We've preached this for a long time now that it's day to day. We're showing up and we're doing everything we can to be ready today, and once the game starts, trying to win a game that day. It's no thinking other than that."

Signing Seager to a long-term deal could be problematic for the Dodgers, who enter Spring Training with roughly $254 million committed to the roster.

Shane Bieber Ready To 'Dive Into' Contract Talks With Indians

Feb 26, 2021 7:56 AM

Shane Bieber hopes to discuss a new contract with the Cleveland Indians as soon as this spring.

The 25-year-old led baseball in wins, ERA and strikeouts during the shortened 2020 season.

"It's absolutely something I'd be open to," Bieber said of a long-term deal. "In terms of conversations, it really hasn't happened yet, so that's something I'd love to dive into and hopefully that will be reciprocated as well."

Chris Antonetti, the team's president of baseball operations, wouldn't comment specifically on any planned talks with Bieber while hinting that Cleveland might be able to do something with him in the not-too-distant future.

"We've found it most constructive not to talk about individual circumstances with particular players," he said. "Setting that aside, obviously, Shane represents all the things we would want our players to be, both on the field, the teammate he is, the way he prepares, the way he competes.

"We are hopeful that Shane will be here for a really long time to come."

Bieber is likely to earn about $575,000 this season.

Carlos Correa Open To Long-Term Deal, If Done Before Season Starts

Feb 23, 2021 8:35 AM

Carlos Correa is open to a long-term deal with the Houston Astros, as long as it gets done before Opening Day.

"I feel so good, my body feels so great and I feel like I'm going to have such a great season that once the season starts, I don't want to be involved with or distracted with those conversations," Correa said.

Correa, who can become a free agent at the end of the season, avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $11.7 million contract.

The shortstop said he'd like to stay in Houston, but so far, the team hasn't talked to him about an extension.

"There's no talks right now about that," he said. "Talks are nowhere right now. I leave that up to my agent and the organization, but right now, there's no talks about it. I haven't heard from them since the arbitration was settled. That's where we are right now."

"I think it's too early," Lindor said of contract extension talks with the Mets. "There is mutual interest. I've never been shy about an extension. Cleveland did what they had to do. They couldn't keep me. They weren't in a position to keep me."

"Talking about an extension is [something] you want to talk about but at the same time [something] you don't want to talk about," Lindor said. "It's inevitable. You can't not talk about it."
